David has just completed a full-length play, THE FRANZ ANTON MESMER SHOW with a cast of 7 (4m 3f) and no scenery. The play is written so that it can be performed in any space: theatre-in-the-round, proscenium arch, village hall, schools, libraries, open air. It is a play within a play, about a group of actors devising a show about Mesmer, the 18th century scientist and founder of hypnosis, and is available for production.
"You've handled the challenges presented by writing a play within a play well and the dual storylines are equally engaging."

MR MICAWBER
DOWN UNDER
now published by Robert Hale Ltd in hardback
The ever optimistic Mr Micawber bids a fond farewell to David Copperfield and takes his family to Australia, confident their lives will change for the better. However, more than florid language and optimism is needed to survive in this brash new world that is Melbourne in 1855. Visits from the bailiffs, rent arrears and his daughter Emma's betrothal to his landlord's son, already complicate poor Micawber's life, but when his son Wilkins introduces a young man with an ambiguous past who also has designs on Emma, it becomes even more tangled. Micawber turns detective, but will the mystery he uncovers threaten even his optimism and integrity?
Investigating a series of gruesome murders, Swansea police detective, Harry Lambert, discovers the victims are a ring of paedophiles who have been targeted by a serial killer. When the truth about the victims’ years of abuse becomes apparent, it stirs up in DI Lambert suspicions about his own family history and a past he is reluctant to face.
As he and his team investigate the murders, and are plunged into a seedy world where there are many suspects, victims and vigilantes alike, there is also the distinct possibility that the killer may be a reformed paedophile seeking revenge.
But when a television documentary producer becomes a suspect, Lambert discovers the motives are not as straightforward as they at first appeared, and the answer lies buried somewhere deep in the past. As he unearths the terrible truths about these horrendous crimes, he discovers they are truths that may cost him his life.
A FRIEND OF RONNIE'S (See review below) had its first professional production in the autumn of 2010. The play is now published and inquiries for further productions for this one act play can be made to Lazy Bee scripts.
